Save the Sellinger Program

Through the Sellinger Program, the State of Maryland provides grant money to eligible independent colleges and universities, including Hood College. These grants are used to provide scholarship support to students and support Maryland’s goals for higher education. Hood provides these resources directly to our students.  In doing so, we advance our mission, enrich the State's workforce, and fuel innovation and economic growth in our region.

 

Unfortunately, the Sellinger Program is at risk of a significant cut. Right now, Maryland lawmakers are contemplating cutting funding for the Sellinger program in half! This would be a tough financial blow to Hood College and the students we serve.  

 

Through a statewide campaign organized by the Maryland Independent College and University Association (MICUA), we are urging our constituents to write to State legislators and urge them to advocate on behalf of maintaining Sellinger funding at its current level as proposed by Governor Moore. MICUA has created templates for each constituency; please feel free to personalize this message.
